Sand rills (carbide grinding residue) are fine powder or sludge produced when grinding, sharpening, or machining carbide workpieces. During carbide tool manufacturing processes such as drill grinding, end mill sharpening, or wear part finishing, carbide powder mixes with coolant and lubricating oil. This powder contains tungsten carbide as its primary component and therefore has significant recycling value.

• Drying: Air-dry the powder before weighing, as water and oil add false weight (and will be deducted).
• Separate from steel dust: Use a magnet to remove steel particles. Carbide powder is not magnetic.
